AVATAR - EMPIRE CLASS BATTLESHIP

I was tasked with building the Empire Class Battleship for use in the VAD/Pre-Visualization at Happy Mushroom. I got a few rough concepts but for the most part, I created it on my own with some inspiration from the original series. After adding various details like the large sculpture on the front, the creatives at Netflix were impressed and said they'd try to get in more shots showcasing it. The majority of the model that I created ended up in the final series (I'm hoping to be able to share images of the model soon). It appears that details were added down the sides, deck and tower, materials were enhanced and geometry may have been increased in polys, but its mostly my design. I created the trebuchets as well. I originally suggested (and showed through an animatic) that they be hidden within the hull of the ship under large trap doors. The doors would slide open and the trebuchets would corkscrew up as part of a reveal. They loved the idea but it was cut. I also had fire in the mouth of the large sculpture. I hinged the head just as it is shown in the show with it lowering so troops could disembark. I also made adjustments to the dirigible model. I was the PL Master for the fleet scene used for virtual scouts and volume, model adjustments / placements. It was amazing to see it as part of the show and especially to help conclude the season.
